Virgin Atlantic Airways is one of the worlds most luxurious commercial airlines. Since its inception in 1984, Virgin has always been ahead of the industry curve with such innovative offerings as sleeping pods. Virgin's loyalty program, Virgin Atlantic Airways Flying Club, is similarly innovative. This frequent flyer program encourages customers to earn points not only by flying with the airline, but also by flying with other airlines, staying in partner hotels, and using partner car rental agencies. The Flying Club offers 3 levels of membership Red, Silver, and Gold. Qualification for each level is based on "Tier Points." Rather than a 1 mile equals 1 point structure used by most other rewards programs, Tier Points offer a set number of points per trip almost without concern for the length of the trip. For example, on a one-way Virgin Atlantic flight, a seat in the Economy cabin would earn you 2 Tier Points; one in the Premium Economy Cabin will net 3 Tier Points; and a seat in Upper Class will be rewarded with 5 Tier points. Tier Points can be earned with Virgin's partner companies as well. These partner companies include 16 airlines, more than 20 hotel chains, and 24 companies in The Virgin Group. Additionally, a customer may even trade points they've earned through other companies' loyalty programs.

Level Benefits Activity needed Flying Club Red - Miles that dont expire - Up to 5% off Virgin Holidays - 5% off BCP airport parking services at London Heathrow and Gatwick. - A dedicated Flying Club helpline. Take part in at least one earning or spending activity every three years.   Flying Club Silver - Earn an extra 25% of base flown miles across all classes of travel. - Use of Premium Economy Check In on every Virgin Atlantic flight, regardless of your class of travel You need to collect 15 tier points per year to move from Flying Club Red to Silver. To obtain this level you need to collect 10 tier points per year.   Flying Club Gold - Use of the Upper Class Check In on every Virgin Atlantic flight regardless of your class of travel. - Invitation to Virgin Clubhouses around the world when flying in any class with Virgin Atlantic for you and one guest (who should also be travelling with Virgin Atlantic on the same day). - Fast track through Immigration & Security on departure at London Heathrow and Gatwick for Flying Club Gold members and one guest (who should also be travelling with Virgin Atlantic on the same day), regardless of class of service. - Access to Virgin Atlantic's Revivals lounge when flying into London Heathrow on a 'VS' prefixed ticket, regardless of your class of travel (subject to availability). This service is for gold members only unfortunately guests are not permitted. - Earn an extra 50% of miles across all classes of travel - 5 complimentary single First Class upgrade vouchers for Gatwick Express and Heathrow Express (5 for each service). - A Supplementary Flying Club Silver Account for someone aged 18 years or over sharing your home address. - Priority boarding and priority baggage handling. - Increased excess baggage allowance. You need to earn 40 tier points per year to move from silver to gold level. To obtain the gold level you need to collect 30 tier points per year.
